Carriage House Suites
213 East Poplar Avenue
The Carriage House was a stable built by one of the owners of the 4 story victorian that occupies the same lot. Over the years the carriage house was expanded and converted to motel style units. We have completely upgraded all of the building's plumbing and electric, and in the process have been able to preserve some of the charm of the original structure.
Elegance and Comfort for Families
All of these suites feature fully equipped kitchens (sink, microwave, refrigerator, gas stove, plates, silverware, pots and pans, and a coffee maker) flat screen TV's (with basic cable) in the bedroom and living room, and full central air conditioning with individual temperature control in each room.
Please note these suites do not include breakfast or housekeeping, the suites have towels and linens to accomodate full occupancy.
The Thomas Hardy Suite
This 1st floor suite features a bedroom, full kitchen and living room. The hardwood floors are composite bamboo. The kitchen and large walk-in shower have cobalt blue tile with mosaic accent tiles imported from Mexico. An antique hooser is equipped with plates, cups glasses and pots & pans. There is a Queen bed in the bedroom and a daybed/trundle in the living room.
1-4 person occupancy.
The Robert Browning Hay Loft
This is a big suite (640 square feet) with lots of windows on all 4 sides. As we refinished the original hardwood floors, we determined based on the flooring pattern, this was the hay loft. The horizontal bead board and dramatic dormers give the appearance of an old loft, but the ceiling is comfortably high for taller individuals. There are 2 Queen beds in the bedroom and a daybed/trundle in the living room.
1-6 person occupancy
The DH Lawrence Suite
This first floor suite features a large bedroom, a full kitchen and living room area with plenty of windows. The floors are pressed bamboo, which is a sustainable "green" material, but give the appearance of traditional hardwood. There is a King-size bed in the bedroom and a daybed/trundle in the living room. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, dishes, cups and utensils for a group of 4. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower.

The Ezra Pound Suite
This first floor suite features a large bedroom, a full kitchen and living room area with plenty of windows. There is a King bed in the bedroom and a daybed/trundle in the living room. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, dishes, cups and utensils for a group of 4. The suite offers 2 showers and 2 toilets, it was originally 2 smaller units that have been combined into one larger suite. This is a dog friendly suite, we allow 1 small to medium sized well behaved dog.
